Knee Replacement

I had a knee replacement almost 2 years ago. It has given me a great deal of pain ever since I got it. The doctor who did it said x-rays show it is fine, come back in 2 years. Well it isn't fine because I have to take pain pills, strong ones, every 4 hours to stand it. I get very little sleep and stay up most of the night before I can go to sleep. I finally went to Rochester, MN and they said it is a bad knee and needs replacing. I guess I knew that all along but glad to finally have someone say I am right. I will have to put up with it a couple more months and then I sure hope things will be completely different and pain free. My sister has had 3 knee replacements and has had no trouble with any of them.

Weather Change

Wow, what's going on around here? The temps have been in the 70's and 80's for months and now we've had 2 nights at 28 degrees and a couple more in the 30's. The daytime temps have been 50's and 60's and boy what a change that is. I guess it's God's way of saying cold weather is coming so if you have repairs to do better get at them. I have a couple friends that are coming over and help me with a couple repairs I need done. Being partially handycapped I can't get down on the floor and do things anymore or I won't get back up until someone comes over and helps me. Right now we have a little light rain off and on but it makes the old bones holler and creak. AH, old age isn't it great.

Pain, Pain and More Pain

I had a lot of pain before I had my knee replaced. However, I am still having a lot of pain. My sister says every day it will get better and better, but so far it hasn't. I had physical therapy at home today so it feels even more sore. But I hope that will help take out the pain and it will soon feel a lot better. I think I slept wrong on my leg night before last and that sure didn't help any. Right now it feels like it is taking forever to get well but I sure am glad to be home again.

Day 3 of Knee Replacement

This has been a very tough day. The girls came in for physical therapy and they could not do much with me. I have had the worst pain ever today!! They say I am not getting back my strength like I should. That isn't good. I haven't had any appetite so I haven't eaten much of anything. That probably doesn't help either. But it is hard to eat when you don't feel like it and you are in pain all the time.

Day Two of Total Knee Replacement

Day one with surgery and getting up beside the bed was a very hard day. It hurt bad to stand up by the bed. Then day two I got to take a few steps and they got out a knee bending machine to use on my leg. I wonder if it is because I waited so long to have it done that I had so much pain. I know I should have had it replaced sooner but without enough insurance I just couldn't afford to do it. But it got so bad I couldn't step on it. I used my cane all the time to keep from falling. I hope today is better.

Owch That Hurts

I have a very high pain threshold conpared to most people. I can play or work with a lot of pain because I know it will get better. I put off going to a doctor because they just say take 2 aspirin and put heat or ice on it. Well I have an attack of gout and let me tell you it brought me to my knees. It was in my foot and kept me awake all night in just plain pain that even I couldn't stand. I called and went to the doctor, who gave me some pills to take every hour for 6 pills then repeat the same the next day. Within an hour or maybe even less the pain was gone and I thought the doctor was the greatest guy I had ever met. What I'm trying to say if someone tells you they had a gout attack just have plenty of sympathy for them and be glad it wasn't you.
