Here We Are Again

It's no big deal anymore but this is new years day. The years keep coming and going and nothing we do can change that. There's millions of people out in this world that just feel blessed to finish another year and start another one. After a certain age I guess that becomes more important than some ball dropping in New York and people screaming at each other. I like to have a beer or even 2 but don't get carried away. there's no sense seeing a new year come in if you feel like crap the next day. The old I must have had fun because I hurt all over. I just don't feel that need anymore so I don't. It gets easier every year to not party like there's no tomorrow because one day there won't be.

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid

The local news tonight was talking about a city worker removing snow. In the middle of cleaning a parking lot he decided to scoop a path out to his ice house. I would that you wouldn'tneed to be a rocket scientist to know the ice won't hold a 18 ton machine so it went into the river. It cost $9,000 just to get it out and that doesn't include repairs. We have a guy here that everyone thinks dumps his pickup in the ice just for attention. This happens every year except this year. I don't know what happened this year he's in his 80's and very determined when he makes his mind up to do something. So I just say STUPID,STUPID,STUPID.

Yesterday

What a beautiful day it was yesterday with temps near 40 degrees. About 1/4 of the snow on the ground melted and the roads were good to travel. Today the temps have dropped below freezing and turned everything to hard snow and ice. The roads depending where you are have ice on the surface and hard to get arround again. The one guy that plowed snow like he enjoyed it quit the city 2 years ago and things have gotten worse. They hired 2 guys and they plow snow like they hate it. The streets aren't cleaned out wide like curb to curb. There's drifts at all the corners you have to drive through and hope you don't get stuck. The south end of town where I live is the worse part but the whole town isn't that great. I think if they can't handle it then hire an outside company to come in and do it. This has really been a funny December weather wise. I guess it's time to go out and check the roads and get some groceries.

Christmas Day

Yesterday I attended a church service that wasjust wonderful. They had a Christmas program that involved the children singing. The best of the best was 7 little girls singing The 12 Days Of Christmas. As they sang each item in the song they pulled a prop out of a big sack. Like a can of pears for the pear tree. By the time they got to the 12th day they were trying their best to keep up with the music and everyone was laughing and having a wonderful time. They usually have a candle light service butthis year tried something different. It was just grand and wen everyone got ready to leave Jesus was in their hearts and smiles were on their faces. What a Glorious time we all had. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.

It Would Be Nice.

In todays world people think if your mommy or daddy are stars then you should be too. There are a lot of young people running around earning millions of dollars and their biggest claim is famous parents. They don't really have any talent but the news media hypes them up until the public start thinking they must be right. I'm not saying that there isn't any talent out there I'm saying some isn't worth looking at or listening to. Loud bands and backup singers don't make talent they just make noise. In fact some of the backup singers are the real talent and not the star. I personally enjoy reading about kids of stars doing something creative that's not conected to show business. Life goes on and the media still make the stars and the people are fooled again.

Where's The Work?

Everyone is laying off workers because of the economy being bad. People who have spent most of their working lives for these major companies are getting cut back. I'm not in the work force anymore but social security isn't a living wage either. If you don't have a retirement plan or company pension plan you won't make it without help from friends or family. My wife and I started saving for our retirement way to late in life and when she got sick there went the savings. The government is bailing out some of the big companies but a lot of these businesses are some of the best paying employers in the world. The CEO's of these are some of the highest paid employees in the world. If I made 5 million dollars a year oreven more I think I would work one year and quit and live easy. I can't even grasp that kind of money for a years work. Being one of the poor people less than $20,000 would pay every bill I owe. $30,000 would pay them and but me a new car that would last the rest of my life. I'm happy but it would be nice to have a few extra dollars that nobody has their hand out for. Merry Christmas everybody, it's not what you have, it's who you are and we are Gods Children.
